The team at Startup Canada—like many organizations—has been working to bring together useful resources for entrepreneurs in this difficult time. Based on the sheer volume of information coming out in response to COVID-19, resources accumulate and it can become overwhelming to navigate.
As a result, we’ve decided to release a blog post each week listing the top resources to make it easier for entrepreneurs to find the information and support they need.
In no particular order, here are this week’s top resources for entrepreneurs in light of COVID-19:
1. StatCan: Canadian Survey on Business Conditions: Impact of COVID-19 on businesses in Canada, March 2020
Thanks to the collaboration of over 12,600 businesses, Statistics Canda has compiled a survey to help Canadians better understand how COVID-19 has impacted Canadian businesses, employers, employees, communities, as well as the economy.
2. Startup Edmonton: Strengthening our Support for Entrepreneurs with Free Program Access
With the impact of COVID-19 weighing heavily on Edmonton’s startup community, Startup Edmonton is offering free access to programs delivered online for the founders and companies of local startups.

3. Financial Literacy among Women Entrepreneurs with Dr. Allan Riding
This live webinar with Dr. Allan Riding will discuss issues such as how the financial landscape for small firms is changing in Canada, the changing profile of firms run by Canadian women, as well as how business owners assess their financial knowledge.

4. Supporting Canada’s Startups Now and Post-COVID
In an interview with Future Economy, Startup Canada’s Executive Director, Kayla Isabelle, explains how COVID-19 has impacted Canada’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, the government’s response to the crisis, as well as how startups and entrepreneurs are adapting to it.
5. Frontline and Business: Help us Support You During COVID-19
In response to COVID-19, the Ontario government has taken action to support local businesses and entrepreneurs. Learn about how Ontario is responding to the pandemic, as well as the various supports the province is offering to help businesses navigate through this crisis.
6. CMHA: Mental Health Week
During the COVID-19, it is important to have access to resources and advice on positively maintaining one’s mental health. The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has studied several schools of thought regarding mental health and has a variety of resources that people can access to check on their own mental health.
7. How to Stabilize & Fortify Your Business in a COVID Economy
James McKinney, the creator and host of The Startup Story podcast, has brought together 14 founders for a two-day Livestream event to answer the question of how entrepreneurs can fortify their businesses in a COVID-19 economy.

8. Webinar: Maintaining Sales in the Face of COVID-19
MaRS hosted an online webinar along with experts from Georgian Partners and Scotiabank. The webinar discussed how high-growth companies could continue to build on sales and revenue, and retain their customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
