On Wednesday, August 11th, we were joined by an incredible lineup of experts to talk all about Building a Resilient Business in partnership with Cisco Small Business.
Nilufer Erderbil, CEO at Spring 2 Innovation @digitalNil
Mike Wood, Small Business Advocate @MikeWoodOttawa
We began by talking about what a resilient mindset looks like;
A5. A resilient mindset is one where there is awareness of ability to cope with challenges. Resilience is the ability to deal with challenges & fears. To conquer fears step one involves understanding the fears.#startupchats

A5. It’s really about getting up every time you get knocked down. Mine stems from being bullied as a child – after a while getting back up again just becomes a reflex #StartupChats

I think you are both born with a resilient mindset and can build one. Every moment is a learning and teaching opportunity. We can learn from everyone. Observe how others deal with things and over time, take from that what we need to be resilient. #StartUpChats

How the pandemic affects business and entrepreneurship;
I think the pandemic gave business owners the opportunity to re-evaluate how they operate. I think it gave business owners the opportunity to re-evaluate costs and where they spend money in their organization. A chance to restructure if you will.#StartUpChats

A4. Almost undoubtedly. I think the reality will be that they will continue to change – normal will constantly change #StartupChats

And we discovered moments that entrepreneurs showed resilience in their own businesses;
A2. I managed to keep my business afloat yesterday. And the day before that; and the day before that…
The odds are stacked against startups and small businesses #StartupChats

A2: For us, going remote overnight and training (motivating) people to establish a successful work from home model last year (March 2020) when the first lockdown was announced all of sudden was a unique challenge that we faced for first time and overcame it. #StartupChats
