Startup Canada opens nominations for the sixth annual Startup Canada Awards

Nominations close March 24th, 2019, 11.59 p.m. PT

February 11, 2019Startup Canada, Canada’s entrepreneurship organization, has launched the sixth annual Startup Canada Awards presented by Intuit Quickbooks and Sovereign Insurance, celebrating excellence in Canadian entrepreneurship and innovation. Entrepreneurs, businesses, and enterprise support organizations from across Canada will be honoured at regional ceremonies this Spring in Whitehorse, Vancouver, Edmonton, Mississauga, Montreal, and Fredericton, with a finale event taking place in Toronto in October.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations are invited to apply for awards recognizing diversity, business achievement, and the business support ecosystem. In addition to national recognition, recipients join an esteemed Alumni Network of former recipients, including entrepreneur and philanthropist W. Brett Wilson, former Governor General the Rt. Hon. David Johnston, Wattpad Founder Allen Lau, Seafair Capital Founder Anne Whelan, Peace by Chocolate Founder Tareq Hadhad, and AccessNow Founder Maayan Ziv, amongst other leaders advancing and exemplifying Canadian entrepreneurship.

“The Startup Canada Awards have become Canada’s leading platform to honour those advancing Canada’s entrepreneurial economy and to inspire all of us to take bigger and bolder steps to make a difference here at home and globally,” said Victoria Lennox, Co-Founder and President of Startup Canada. “We invite entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, industries, and regions to apply and to nominate the organizations and champions that have supported them along the way.”

The 2019 Startup Canada supported by long standing Award sponsors including Intuit Quickbooks, Sovereign Insurance, Mastercard, UPS, the Business Development Bank of  Canada, and Scotiabank, and hosted in partnership with local hosting support partners including Startup Whitehorse, Startup Vancouver, Startup Edmonton, TEC Edmonton, Startup Ottawa, Invest Ottawa, D3 Innovation, Startup Montreal, and Startup Fredericton.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations are invited to  submit nominations and apply until March 24th, 2019 at 11:59 pm PT. Regional award winners will be announced at Receptions across Canada in May and June, with the grand finale taking place in Toronto in October.
