Series begins September 13  in Fredericton, N.B. and online

September 13, 2016| Startup Canada

Startup Canada, the national rallying community and voice for Canada’s entrepreneurs, has partnered with Google Canada and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) to collect ideas from Canada’s most creative, innovative and entrepreneurial thought leaders. These ideas will contribute to a national strategy that recognizes and elevates the role of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in building Canada’s cultural, economic and social prosperity.

The partners will host six forums across Canada, a two-month digital consultation and one nationally live-streamed panel that will bring together entrepreneurs, students, academics, government and industry experts for a national dialogue.  The digital consultation includes opportunities for Canadians to submit videos, written ideas and social media entries using the hashtag #CreativeCanada. Topics to be explored in this consultation series include development of talent, creative industries, as well as social and entrepreneurial innovation.

Regional forums and the broadcast panel are scheduled as follows:

  • Fredericton, N.B., September 13, 2016;
  • Montreal, Q.C., October 4, 2016;
  • Vancouver, B.C., October 24, 2016;
  • Calgary, A.B.,  October 27, 2016;
  • Toronto, O.N., October 31, 2016;
  • Digital Town Hall, November 14; and,
  • Waterloo, O.N., November  9, 2016;

This initiative will support and inform the federal government’s current consultations in the areas of creative industries, creativity and innovation. The findings will be announced in November 2016. To learn more and to find out how to participate, visit www.startupcan.ca/creativecanada.
