Startup Canada and the Embassy of Israel Announces Winners of the Canada-Israel Joint Pitch Competition

Ottawa, ON – November 25, 2021 | Today, the four winners for the Canada-Israel Joint Pitch Competition were announced: Lee Sharir at Safe and Sound, Nadia Ladak at Marlow, Dana Pousty at SoLED, and Ashley Stone at The Village App. Each winner will collect $2,000 CAD in cash to help grow and expand their business.

“Thank you so much, I’m so excited,” said Lee Sharir, Co-Founder and CEO of Safe and Sound. “[This money] will be very helpful for our research to go internationally.”

“Thanks everyone, it was such an honour to be selected among all of you and I really enjoyed listening to each of your pitches,” said Nadia Ladak, Founder & COO at Marlow. “We’ve been embarking on some campus partnerships, so [the funds will go toward] doing educational events across Canada with universities on reducing the stigma around menstrual health and educating people about their bodies.”

“Thank you very much, I’m so happy,” said Dana Pousty, Co-Founder at SoLED. “Right now, we’re planning to do a pilot and donate 10 systems to the village [where] we’re doing the pilot. [The $2,000] will be the funds of the equipment so thank you very much.”

“Thank you so much, I really, really appreciate this,” said Ashley Stone, Founder at The Village App. “We’re doing a Christmas campaign called Give, Get, Gather about sharing this holiday season, and we essentially have no budget for that. We’re also sponsoring a family this Christmas so we’re going to use [the funds] to help with that too.”

This competition is part of the second phase of the Canada-Israel Women Entrepreneurs Program in partnership with the Embassy of Israel. This program aims to further promote, celebrate, and educate the startup community on the importance of women entrepreneurship globally. Find out more about the program.
