September 6, 2017 | Startup Canada and the Embassy of Israel are excited to begin their search for a young Canadian entrepreneur to send to this year’s StartJLM Conference (#StartJLM) in Jerusalem, Israel, to be held from November 5, 2017 to November 11, 2017.
The Canada wide search is one of 30 national competitions to be held globally. Winners from around the world will travel to Israel and participate in a unique accelerator program for new technology companies that will introduce participants to Israel’s innovative and vibrant hi-tech environment and encourage international cooperation and business networking.
“As a tech founder, travelling to Israel was an incredible experience to explore one of the most innovative countries in the world with inspirational founders from across the world,” said Andrea Palmer, Founder and CEO of AwakeLabs, who represented Canada in 2016. “It has shifted my perspective about managing risk, choosing target markets, and optimizing efficiency.”
“Startup Canada is thrilled to be partnering with The Embassy of Israel,” said Victoria Lennox, CEO and Co-Founder of Startup Canada. “Through this strategic partnership, Startup Canada and the Embassy of Israel are elevating the importance of global entrepreneurship while providing entrepreneurs with a platform to receive the recognition they deserve.”
“We are proud to bring StartJLM to Canada and celebrate Jerusalem’s growing role in the Israeli innovation ecosystem,” said Nimrod Barkan, Ambassador of Israel to Canada. “Israel’s reputation as the Startup Nation is one built upon collaboration with other countries, and it is our pleasure to be partnering with Startup Canada for the third straight year on this endeavor. We are confident that this competition will allow young Canadian entrepreneurs to display their abilities on a global scale, and help strengthen the already robust ties between Canada and Israel.”
Applications to nominate and apply for the Startup Jerusalem Competition are due by September 27, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
The winner will be announced at Startup Canada Day on the Hill on October 19, 2017 in the Capital. Startup Canada Day on the Hill is Canada’s largest national entrepreneurship event convening leading entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, industry executives, and government representatives annually to raise the bar for Canada as a globally competitive innovation nation.
