Startup Canada partners with the Conference Board of Canada to solicit perspectives from entrepreneurs

As a signature feature of the Startup Canada Day on the Hill, taking place on November 26th, in Ottawa, is a collaboration of Canada’s entrepreneurship community, entrepreneurs and experts who will be invited to join political and government leaders as part of the Startup Canada Task Force Policy Discussions, in partnership with the Conference Board of Canada. The Policy Discussions will contribute to the formation of recommendations in the areas of entrepreneur support, education, finance, mentorship, acceleration, innovation, growth, social enterprise, and women entrepreneurship.

The Startup Canada Task Force is Startup Canada’s flagship government relations initiative, created as a platform to advance entrepreneurship policy in Canada. The mission of the Task Force is to advance Canada’s prosperity and competitiveness and to position Canada as a beacon of entrepreneurship globally by convening entrepreneurs and cross-sector experts, initiating undertakings, and carrying out government relations and policy activities. The Task Force’s 2014 priorities focused on entrepreneur financial literacy and connecting Canada’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

As an independent, grassroots organization positioned as the voice of entrepreneurs in Canada, Startup Canada’s partnership with the Conference Board of Canada is a natural fit. The Conference Board of Canada is dedicated to building a better future for Canadians by making the economy and society more dynamic and competitive. It is known as the foremost independent, evidence-based, not-for-profit applied research organization in Canada.

As part of the partnership, Dr. Sorin Cohn from the Conference Board of Canada, who also volunteers as a Board Director for Startup Canada will facilitate cross-sector discussions with government leaders, entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders throughout the day on the 26th, culminating in a summary and findings report to be shared with conference delegates and government leaders to support efforts to better support the advancement of entrepreneurship in Canada.
